Consultations - $50/hour
Starting a garden project in a school that is yet to see many flowers let alone some grass can be a daunting task. Knowing where to start, what the vision is and what a school needs to make a project successful and sustainable are all tricks in my garden bag. A consultation can include:
- How to start and prepare a vision for your project
- Interesting ideas of how to engage the staff, students or parents of a school garden project
- Ways of tackling the issues a school district or community might have preventing the project to move on to the planning stage to the building of excitement stage
- Finding a good spot to start a garden even if it’s just a few planters in the beginning
School Garden Project Coordination – Rate Based on Project Scope
Services Includes:
- Grant Writing & Financial Record Keeping
- Visioning with School Community
- Presentations to engage staff & students
- Proposal Submission for School District Support
- Volunteer Coordination
- Staff Coordination for various garden activities
- Monthly Reporting to Parent Advisory Committees
End Result: An Outdoor Classroom that can easily accommodate 40 students, several varieties of BC seasonal herbs, vegetables and fruit.
In order to see a garden project through from the vision stage, planning, coordinating and of course the build of the garden, the more help and support, the more successful a project is. Having overseen the first ever edible garden project in Burnaby, I am experienced in overcoming obstacles and barriers by infusing a project with strong knowledge and vision. I am connected to a wide range of resources around the lower mainland as well as proving these projects are not only successful but necessary to any school ground.
A school not only is provided with my coordination services overseeing a garden project build but they are also left with the garden itself as a product. Gardens are created to be used as an outdoor classroom where children become completely engaged learning traditional subjects in a natural garden setting with benches to sit on while the teachers are able to stand at the front of the space to facilitate a class.

Healthy Snack Presentations - $100/hour
Need to convince a group of 4 yr olds to eat their veggies? How about some 12 yr olds try homemade root beer instead of the stuff out of a can? Struggling to figure out some new snack ideas for a range of kids with a range of age groups? Let me see if I can help you out with that!
A Sprouting Chefs presentation can be focussed for the audience of teachers or students. A typical presentation includes the demonstration of a healthy snack where all the senses are engaged, funny stories are included, and a child from 4 to 12 can easily participate. Using a sense of humour, patience, stories and facts that children can relate to are all included. For example: “Did you know that if you stick a branch of rosemary up your nose, you can fight colds AND retain facts for an exam?! How cool is that?!”
