Sprouting Chefs

Summer Program

Our Summer Day Camp program is a fun way to "Sprout the Chef” within each participant with day camp sessions running from 9am to 3pm Mondays to Fridays throughout the summer months of July and August. Sprouting Chefs is a community based company offering 3 different levels of cooking programs for children and youth ages 8 to 15. Recipes are seasonal and inspired by local growers including UBC Farms and Whole Foods Capers Market.

As summer provides some of the best flavours, colours and choices for the locally inspired dishes, the Sprouting Chef Summer program is an excellent introduction for youth and children to the culinary arts in Vancouver.

We Provide

  • Summer cooking day camp programs through a number of Metro Vancouver communities
  • A safe fun learning environment where kids learn to cook!

After a 5 day week session, Sprouts will graduate with the awareness of:

  • The cycle of food production from farm to table
  • Training in basic food preparation
  • Knowledge and skills in sharing and creating meal ideas for their families at home
  • The importance of community awareness and stewardship of the land
  • A strong sense of empowerment from the skills they have acquired

Included in the cost of registration:

  • Sprouting Chef Certification
  • A Sprouting Chefs apron, chef’s jacket or hat
  • A mini cookbook of the meals the Sprouts prepared during the week long sessions
  • An experienced chef leader who will nurture and guide the Sprouts
  • All food and equipment needed to prepare a locally inspired recipe
