Volunteer Opportunities

Sprouting Chefs is focused on improving the lives of youth in Burnaby, BC. We believe that healthy minds and bodies start with healthy eating. We believe that healthy eating begins with a thorough knowledge, understanding and appreciation of where our food comes from – starting in a garden. We also firmly believe children are more likely to learn and be mentored from other youth and teens who have experienced our program. Volunteering with us as a teen or youth can provide:
- Valuable work experience
- Volunteer Hours
- Community Involvement and Engagement
- Ability to give back to your community and make a difference!
Teen Volunteers and Post Secondary Students

Teen Volunteers: Students can apply for a “build your own schedule” placement with Sprouting Chefs at 2 different Burnaby, BC Elementary Schools or at our Summer Wellness and Cooking Camp at St. Timothy’s Church in Burnaby. A minimum commitment of 15 hours is required. Students are expected to clearly communicate their availability when applying. Once a student has committed to specific dates and times, at least two weeks’ notice must be given if the student will be unable to attend, as your presence will be integral to the running of cooking classes and events! PLEASE NOTE: we are currently in need of volunteers to help at our Forest Grove Elementary After School Cooking Classes on Wednesdays or Friday After School Garden Clubs.
Post Secondary Students are always valued who have a background in holistic nutrition, education, environmental education, sustainability, or yoga students
